Congratulation to our 2020 Salmon Arm Folk Music Society Fine Arts Development Scholarship!
The Salmon Arm Folk Music Society is pleased to announce Erin Hiebert and Tegan Larvin, both students at Salmon Arm Senior Secondary, as their 2020 recipients of the Salmon Arm Folk Music Society Fine Arts Development Scholarship. Each student will be awarded $500 toward their post-secondary education in a fine arts discipline.
Erin Hiebert has been selected as a 2020 recipient based on her application which highlighted her acceptance into the music program at the University of Alberta. Erin has also been a participant in the Shuswap Art Gallery’s “Random Acts of Music”, a performer at the Shuswap Community Theatre’s production of “The Wizard of Oz”, a student of piano, guitar and voice, in addition to competencies in flute and alto saxophone, performer in Shuswap Idol, a painting exhibited at Shuswap Art Gallery, and finally, two years volunteering at the Salmon Arm ROOTSandBLUES Festival.
Tegan Larvin has been selected as a 2020 recipient based on her application for acceptance into the Fine Arts Program at Okanagan University College. Tegan’s application highlighted her aspirations to open a business in illustration, animation, graphic design, or the tattoo arts. Tegan has previously had her worked displayed at the Shuswap Art Gallery and was awarded 2nd place at the Salmon Arm Art Battle Fundraiser. Her application also highlighted her work as a Teachers Assistant at SASS with the encouragement and mentorship of art teacher Chris Schielke and her volunteer work at the 2017 and 2018 Salmon Arm ROOTSandBLUES Festival.
