Joel Plaskett Emergency with Mo Kenney

SOLD OUT!

When Joel Plaskett joined Thrush Hermit on stage in December 1999, he had no idea what the next century would hold. All Plaskett knew was that night would be the last for the band he formed as a teenager. Without a backup plan, Plaskett, the son of musician Bill Plaskett, had a decision to make: move on to the next chapter or keep on rocking.

Now, more than 20 years later, Plaskett is a JUNO Award-winning musician at the helm of the Joel Plaskett Emergency whose unique sound inspired the next generation of Canadian singer-songwriters. Plaskett brings his inspiring story and iconic folk-rock tunes to Salmon Arm’s Song Sparrow Hall on Sept. 11, 2022.

“Joel’s songs are a fixture on every Canadian hit list,” says Kevin Tobin, artistic director. “His dedication to his craft has earned him his reputation as one of our country’s most engaging performers and respected singer-songwriters. We’re thrilled to welcome Joel to Salmon Arm as part of the Salmon Arm Folk Music Society’s off-season program.”

A Nova Scotia mainstay, the Joel Plaskett Emergency quickly grew from performing in small Halifax clubs to opening for Paul McCartney and The Tragically Hip. Today, the trio fills large venues with its own devoted audience.

When he isn’t on tour, Plaskett runs the Dartmouth-favourite hangout New Scotland Yard. The recording studio and coffee shop hybrid operates in partnership with Taz Records.

Through his work supporting emerging Nova Scotian musicians, Plaskett met long-time collaborator and fellow JUNO Award-winning artist Mo Kenney, who joins Plaskett on stage in Salmon Arm.
