Kuksjammin Collective

Kuksjammin Collective

Spi7uwi brings his love and learning of Secwepemctsín language into modern musical styles. Back up
tracks support acoustic guitar and voice with Hip hop, mariachi, traditional and reggae influences.
Storytelling naturally flows through the Spi7uwi as does his gift of playing guitar and base.
Singer singer-songwriter Dustin Willard plays bluegrass and folk inspired original music that is deeply
inspired by the land of his ancestors. Willard tells stories through his music like his great grandfather,
noted Secwepemc storyteller, Isaac Willard. Dustin brings listeners along to see the land, hear the coyote
stories and feel the connection to this place through music.

Ancient melodies mixed with Secwepemc and Indigenous language, sk?u?lenst weaves a pattern of beauty
that remind us of the sacredness of Water, Air, Earth and Fire. Elemental healing chants remind us of our
responsibilities to be in right relationship with Mother Earth.
Kuksjammin are a collective of local Indigenous musicians and artists that combine their unique blend of
creativity to share songs, language and storytelling rooted in Secwepemcul’ecw. All artists are part of
Secwepemc Nation or have connections, friendships and community ties within the Nation.
Traditional and contemporary hand drum songs reflect the pure love and respect of land and water.
These songs are shared with Indigenous teachings and the stories that go along with them. They come
directly from the waters and lands of Secwepemcul’ecw,
A unique offering by several Kuksjammin artists is their storytelling guitar songs. Traditional Secwepemc
stories are set to blues- style music with guitar. In both drum and storytelling songs, you will hear the
language of the land: Secwepemctsin. The name Kuksjammin was coined by family in Lawayka
(Neskonlith Lake). It combines gratitude (Kukstsemc means thank you) with musical process, becoming
KUKSJAMMKIN!
