Rebecca Sichon

Rebecca Sichon

Originally from Mission in British Columbia’s Fraser Valley, Rebecca Sichon began singing at a young age, belting out “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” for campers at age five. At age seven she began piano lessons through the Royal Conservatory of Music. While in elementary school, Rebecca received some early career advice from fellow Mission-ite Carly Rae Jepson when the “Call Me Maybe” gal dropped by to play a set (“Just keep doin’ it,” Carly told eight-year-old Rebecca). By 12, Rebecca was learning guitar and ukulele on her own, and developing her own musical taste. “I grew up listening to classical and jazz in our house, and my parents always had the radio tuned to the French station,” says the singer, who speaks fluent French and, like her Ukrainian parents, Russian.“Then I got an iPod and started getting exposed to more R&B. I loved that dramatic, empowering sound.” Early favourites included H.E.R., Alicia Keys and Amy Winehouse.

The ambitious young talent has already released more than 11 singles, and two EPs, and performed well over 200 shows including an unprecedented 20 Sofar Sounds shows over the past 12 months making her an alumnus of the Global Music Phenomenon. In 2022 she toured Canada for the first time, performing from Vancouver to Montreal, and opening for Bif Naked at Canadian Music Week. Accolades include the 2020 and 2021 Fraser Valley Music Awards as Pop Artist of the year and the 2022 FVMA R&B Artist of the Year.

With a promising recording career ahead of her and a growing live reputation thanks in part to her charming, natural stage presence, Rebecca is primed to break out of Western Canada and into the wider world.
