If Arkansas-based Willi Carlisle isn’t on your radar yet, he should be and ROOTSandBLUES is the perfect setting for this poet and a folk singer for the people. Carlisle’s extraordinary gift for turning a phrase isn’t about high falutin’ pontificatin’; it’s about looking out for one another and connecting through our shared human condition. Not only do Carlisle’s distinctively poetic lyrics separate him from most of the pack, but as an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, his talent is sure to make a lasting impression. And as always, living in a world whose politics seek to divide and control, Carlisle comes back to one essential question: “How do we save love from hate?” Sing along and find out.
