A roots balladeer with a rare personal warmth, Edmonton’s Scott Cook has managed to distil the stories collected over years of near-incessant touring across Canada, the USA, Europe, Asia, and Australia into straight-talking, keenly observant verse.  He’s currently touring with his acoustic trio The Second Chances, consisting of Bramwell Park on banjo, mandolin, guitar and harmony vocals, and Melissa Walker on upright bass and harmonies.  Cook’s 2013 album One More Time Around was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award, and its opening track “Pass It Along” won the Folk and Acoustic category in the 2013 UK Songwriting Contest, with UK magazine Maverick Country naming him “one of Canada’s most inspiring and imaginative storytellers”.  He’s just released his fifth CD, Go Long, and is embarking on another around-the-world tour in support of it.  All the hard miles notwithstanding, he still believes that songs can change your life, and your life can change the world.

Scott has been making a full-time living at music since 2007, touring extensively across Canada, the US, Europe, Asia and Australia, and is currently on tour in support of his fourth independent release, One More Time Around, which Canada’s premier roots music magazine Penguin Eggs calls “as much a manifesto as a musical work,” teeming with “wry observations and hopeful life lessons.” Its opening track “Pass It Along” won the Folk and Acoustic category in the 2013 UK Songwriting Contest, with UK magazine Maverick Country naming him “one of Canada’s most inspiring and imaginative storytellers”, the album also earned him a nomination for the 2014 Canadian Folk Music Awards.

Scott has toured extensively across Canada, the USA, Europe, Asia, and Australia, averaging over 150 shows each year since 2007, and selling over 6000 albums independently.  He is touring Australia, the UK, and continental Europe this year, and releasing his fifth album, entitled Scott Cook and the Long Weekends Go Long, in July of 2015.
